I have seen lensbaby photos on photo streams, and have been impressed with them. But the concepts seemed so overwhelming. I have taken a courses through PPSOP.com and subscribe to their newsletter. So when a lensbaby course was advertised and the pictures that accompanied it. I took the plunge.
It's been about a month since I received the kit. And while I have yet to use the whole kit. This has been the most enjoyable time photographing since I bought my camera 5 years ago.
I won't say that this will come easy. It takes a while. And I would suggest taking a course, you'll short cut your learning curve, somewhat lol. But you also will be amazed at the photos that you create.
These lenses are all about creativity! I completely lose track of all time, I think I'm out there for a half hour and I come in and its three hours later. You'll constantly amaze yourself.
I will never regret buying the top quality, thoughtfully produced lensbaby products.
I would suggest as I mentioned before that you take a course. Kathleen Clemons (you'll see some of her pictures if you look at some of the pictures, that explain the different lenses) has been in combination with the lensbaby products, nothing short of inspirational. So if you're bored, with your normal everyday lenses, and want to add a lot of creativity to your photos, then get this kit.
Thank you to lensbaby. I don't know if I'll ever return to "normal" lenses!

I had heard and seen great things and many creative shots captured with Lensbaby optics which made me take the plunge and buy.
But it wasn't till I got my own Lensbaby Creative Effects Kit that I got hooked.
Wow, what a powerful set of gear and I'm just in the baby learning stage. I love playing with DOF, focussing on attractive yet different details and I'm having fun getting the Lensbaby to create what I envision.
There is a learning curve with the manual settings, aperture discs and focussing - somtimes you need a steady hand or a tripod but even if you leave the discs at home you still get amazing results!
The macro adapters allow close and extremely close views. The wide-angle and tele converters add further fascinating dimensions.
As part of the kit I got some shaped aperture discs, which I promptly ignored.. after all, I can do that in Photoshop. Then I watched a couple of the Lensbaby eLearning videos. VoilĂ - the heart-shaped disc aimed at the illuminations of a wedding party went down a treat when I showed them to the bride!
I'm just starting to explore the Lensbaby kit but can already recommend it to anyone who wants to push their creative envelope. The DOF creativity is stunning, and the colours are deep and highly appealing. You can have toy town feel or close-up soft creative and so much more.
Tip: Remember that the Lensbaby is fully manual and hands-on so I recommend ordering the optic cleaner and always having a good optic cloth at hand to keep the dust out of your DSLR and kit.
And, just as in important, the critique I'm getting on my work is awe-inspiring.
Finally, I have to say a thank you to the Lensbaby Team. For their inspiring products and website, and for the professionality of their service and the speed of the international delivery.
When you recieve the kit you'll see the attention to detail, like the dusters for each converter/optic, the aperture discs packed into a the magnetic swap tool, the corner flaps for opening part of the handy waist-level bag, etc.
Suggestion: Include more information in the small square guide on the delivered products which can be carried in the bag. I printed out the page above and some others so I could remember some facts and added the description to each coloured optic so I could remember which is which.
